Windows update hangs after fresh install of windows 7

Windows update downloads window update agent 7.6.7600.320 after Win7sp1 is installed, which causes windows update to hang. Nothing will fix this if this agent is installed.

Instead follow the instructions on this page to rectify this situation. It works.
